Das Denkmal am Kyotoplatz erinnert an die Städtepartnerschaft Kölns mit Kyoto. Die schmückende, an eine Zierbelnuß erinnernde Form auf eine der beiden Säulen steht für die klassische Ausschmückung japanischer Brücken. Die maßstabsgetreue Kopie liegt in der Nähe des Denkmals auf den Boden.  

Seit 20. Oktober 2014 befindet sich ZWILLING im gläsernen Foyer des Architekturbüros Schilling am Kyotoplatz.
